How to keep your eyes safe during Halloween

Halloween is a fun holiday but as a corneal specialist, I often see infections this time of year.

Here are some tips on to keep your eyes safe this Halloween:

1️⃣ Never buy cosmetic contact lenses without a prescription. When contact lenses are purchased without being properly fitted, this can lead to serious infections. Cosmetic contact lenses are also thicker because of the pigment.

2️⃣ Prescription contact lenses are made with FDA approved materials and dyes. This is why It’s important to only use prescribed contact lenses since they’re made with FDA approved materials to avoid corneal infections.

3️⃣ Don’t share eye makeup, this can also lead to infections. Also if you’ve had a recent infection, throw away your eye makeup.

4️⃣ Remove your eye makeup before you go to bed. This is always important, but especially important for heavy makeup looks
